The Black Stars have been drawn with Madagascar in the quarterfinal of the 2015 Cosafa Cup

Ghana will take on Madagascar in the quarter-finals of the 2015 Council of Southern Africa Football Association (COSAFA) Cup at the Royal Bafonkeng Stadium in Rustenburg, South Africa on Monday.

The Black Stars, who entered as a guest team, were scheduled to take on the winner of Group B in the knock-out stage, and the pairing was confirmed on Friday evening after the Barea edged past Swaziland on the group standings.

The two sides settled for a 1-1 draw in their last group match on Friday and finished their group campaign with seven points each, but Madagascar topped the group with superior goals.

Coach Maxwell Konadu’s side will be fancying their chances against the Malagasies as a win will take them into the semi-finals.

The assistant coach of the Black Stars assembled the best players from the Ghana Premier League for this assignment, including Nathaniel Asamoah, who sits on top of the top scorers chart with 12 goals in 13 matches after the first round.

It also has Black Stars and Ashgold goalkeeper Fatau Dauda who happens to be the skipper of the side.

Zambia will take on Namibia in the other quarter-final. Hosts South Africa have been paired with Botswana, while Mozambique and Malawi complete the fixtures in the round of eight.

Fourteen teams were pencilled down for the tournament this year, with eight initially going through the group phase. The winners from the two groups were later drawn with six other teams on stand-by.

The last time Konadu took his team to South Africa for a tournament was at the 2014 Chan competition where Ghana won silver.

This 15th edition of the Cosafa Cup started on May 17, and runs through until May 30.
