Confirmed! Petroleum prices go up by 9%

It is confirmed, prices of some petroleum prices have been increased by 9 percent. The new prices have already taken effect at the pumps.
Deputy Transport Minister, Joyce Bawa Mogtari, confirmed the price increases in an interview with Joy News shortly after the new prices took effect.
She said “the increment comes as a huge surprise to all of us.”
Myjoyonline.com broke the story Saturday, about the increases which were to take effect Sunday.
Per the new prices petrol will now be selling at Ȼ3.33 per litre from the previous Ȼ3.05, while diesel which was previously sold at Ȼ 2.97 will be selling at Ȼ3.24.
Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) will now be selling at Ȼ2.88 from an old price of Ȼ2.64. MGO Local which was sold at Ȼ2.96 will go up to Ȼ2.96.
Unified petroleum and kerosene for mining firms are expected to go up by 4 per cent. However premix fuel and RFO will not see any price adjustments.
The new prices have angered a number of commercial drivers.
A visit to some fuel stations by Joy News’ Kwetey Nartey indicates the prices have already taken effect at the Kasoa, Kaneshie and Neoplan fuel stations.
Petrol attendants at the stations said drivers were unaware about the new prices and were outraged when they were informed.
Some drivers who spoke to Kwetey questioned why government did not inform them before the prices were increased.
New transport fares are yet to be announced for commercial vehicles.
