Founder and leader of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Madam Akua Donkor, has reiterated her ambition of becoming president of the Republic of Ghana.

According to her, she can match up to the other presidential candidates for the upcoming 2016 elections. “Starting a party isn’t a difficult task, so if I’ve been able to do that, why can’t I be the president of Ghana?” she asked.

Madam Akua Donkor, who admits she doesn’t speak English, took a shot at the presidency in 2012, but was disqualified at the prior stages because she missed the filing deadline. However, she agreed to join forces with the PPP, headed by Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, to campaign, and the aftermath brought about many controversies.

On The Delay Show with host Deloris Frimpong Manso on Viasat1, the presidential aspirant revealed that she has spent about 1.2 million cedis (12 billion old cedis) since she began her political career. According to her, she is not bothered she has spent that much money. “I am going to spend more money for the 2016 elections than I did in 2012, because we are about to enter the campaign season,” she stated, adding that she wants to deliver Ghana.

Madam Donkor also denied ever sleeping in Parliament. A picture went viral a couple of years ago that showed the

presidential hopeful dozing off in the chamber, but she totally denied she was dozing off.

Her tone went a pitch higher when Delay asked about the controversies surrounding the pick-up truck given to her by Dr. Nduom during the 2012 elections. “I am not Paa Kwesi Nduom’s wife…I don’t live with him to attend school…and I’m not his maid. He asked me to give him my supporters.

After he defected from the CPP to form the PPP, he did not get even one supporter. So he asked that I give him my supporters and in return, he’ll give me his Tundra….I don’t owe him.” Madam Donkor called Dr. Nduom a “thief” because he went to her house to take the pick-up truck without her knowledge while she had upgraded the truck. The conversion became heated…forcing Delay to ask why her mood had changed all of the sudden.
