The Ghana Football Association has revealed the reason behind the organisation of a non-residential camp for the Black Stars ahead of their AFCON 2017 qualifiers against Mauritius.
The GFA says it wants to afford Hearts of Oak enough time and space to get to prepare for their CAF Confederations Cup third round second leg tie against Esperance of Tunisia in Accra.
The 2000 CAF Champions League have been left with a huge recovery job after conceding four goals without a reply in the first leg.
GFA spokesperson Ibrahim Saane Daara gave the explanation to Citi Sports in an interview on Tuesday.
“We are training at the outskirts of Accra from Thursday because we want to afford Hearts the required space to prepare for their game against Esperance.
Once the game is done we will move to the Accra Sports stadium to begin preparations for the game against Mauritius.”
Ghana will open their AFCON 2017 qualifiers against Mauritius on the 14th of June.
